The Joy of Play
Today was exhausting and yet so much fun. Lincoln and I spent the afternoon at the park in what I'm sure was 90 degree weather with my mother, sister-in-law, niece & nephew.
Watching him at play with his cousins made me painfully aware of how much he has grown in the past year. I often ask, seeing him at a distance, "Whose child is that?!"
It feels like it's all going by so fast. I try to cherish the present, really capture and enjoy each moment, even though I know it's slipping through my fingers like sand.
Today on the playground under the blazing sun, I reveled in salty kisses, grubby hands reaching for Cheerios, curious laughter and shrieks of joy, yelling out "Again! Again!"
That sweet boy, the one with an apple-sized head in the 99th percentile of his peers (he got it honest!), and the pie-faced smile, and the adorable dimple on his left cheek?
That sweet boy is mine :-)
